Peeping Tom
This is not a tip, just another account of Paul’s 'peeping tom' behavior while I was at Cal Poly.
I was reading the Laci Peterson website and saw a link to the Kristin Smart page. It is the first time I’ve looked at it. I read the part about Paul being a Peeping Tom so I thought I would share my experience with you.
My three female roommates and I had a Halloween party the same year (before) Kristin went missing. It was a small turn out and we had a full keg of beer left so when Paul, a stranger to us, came to the door, he gave us a few dollars and we let him in.
He was not there long when friends of mine began commenting on how uncomfortable Paul made them feel. As the party slowed down and there were just a few friends left, we could not make Paul leave.
We finally moved the keg outside, gave him a beer for the road and asked that he be on his way. It was more than an hour later, and we noticed Paul outside my bedroom window watching us in the dark and laughing once we noticed him (my bedroom faced the backyard of the house.) We closed the blinds, checked later, and he was gone.
I will not forget him laughing. It was incredibly eerie.
Following that we began receiving crank calls and knocks on the door with no one there. We thought it might be him but could not be sure. My parents came for a visit and my father noticed that the tall weeds leading from the side of the house back to my bedroom window were freshly trampled. He was worried someone had been back there.
During this time, I was at the gym at Cal Poly working out one day. I remember being on the rowing machine and seeing Paul there with a friend (who was Asian). It was the first time I had seen Paul since the party. I was not in a Halloween costume, yet he recognized me right away. Paul stared at me and pointed to me to his friend whispering something in his ear and laughing. I left, convinced he had been our mysterious caller.
Sometime later, maybe a week, I was alone in my house in the evening. I looked out my kitchen window and saw someone that I believed to be Paul, creeping below my neighbors’ window peeping in and heading toward our backyard.
Out of panic, I flipped all the lights on and called my friend down the street who came running up. The peeping tom was gone. There were no more incidents after this. I never reported this because it was dark and I could not be 100% sure it was Paul…but I would say I was 99% sure.
Anyway, the story about Kristin came out later that year and we were not surprised to see Paul Flores connected to the case.
Good luck.
